[custom_adv] Behrouz Vossoughi (11 March 1938), is an actor, TV host and model, with appearances in more than 90 films and plays. He has also worked in television, radio and theater. [custom_adv] His work has earned him recognition at several international film festivals, including for Best Actor at the International Film Festival of India in 1974 and the Lifetime Achievement Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival in 2006. [custom_adv] Like previous years, the festival will be held in two different venues - the TIFF Bell Lightbox and the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), from 22nd till 29th of November 2019. [custom_adv] CIFF showcases Twenty-Two feature films (10 in the Competition Section), four honorary guests, accompanied Q&A sessions, and panel discussions. [custom_adv] The festival’s rich selection of films explores many themes and crosses cinematic genres to elevate and connect with the contemporary aesthetic sensibility of and Canadian audiences. [custom_adv] Screening of Gavaznha (The Deer), one of the renowned films of Behrouz Vossoughi and a biography film about his life, will commence the festival and the selected quality films. [custom_adv] Tunisian film “Arab Blues” – with Golshifteh Farahani in the lead role, Arsalan Barahani’s local production “Actors of God”, and a documentary by Yaser Talebi - “Beloved”, represent just a few of the superb screenings at this year’s festival. [custom_adv] With the attendance of Behrouz Vossoughi, this year is made more extraordinary as the Toronto audience will get to enjoy the best of Iranian cinema, in presence of one of legendary cinematic icons. [custom_adv] He started acting in films with Samuel Khachikian in Toofan dar Shahre Ma and Abbas Shabaviz's Gole gomshodeh (1962), and became a major star as the brooding hero of the revenge drama Qeysar (1969), directed by Masoud Kimiai. [custom_adv] Vossoughi received the Best Actor Award at the Sepas Film Festival for this role.
