[custom_adv] David Beckham has launched Vietnam's first car manufacturer just days after worming his way out of a speeding conviction on a technicality. [custom_adv] The former footballer - who was busted doing almost 20mph above the speed limit in central London in January - introduced the country's first car manufacturer at the Paris Motor Show. [custom_adv] He continued: "It's incredible. It's beautiful. It's sleek. It's modern. It's high tech. It's premium. It's incredible. Congratulations." [custom_adv] A spokesman for Vinfast said they appointed Beckham as spokesperson in a bid to cash in on his popularity. [custom_adv] "The strategy was to show what it takes competing at the highest level internationally, on the global stage, and David Beckham seemed to fit the bill," he said. [custom_adv] He appeared on stage alongside Miss Vietnam 2018, Tran Tieu Vy, to unveil the Vinfast LUX A2.0 saloon and LUX SA2.0 SUV. [custom_adv] Looking slightly awkward with his hands clasped tightly together, he told the audience: "It's incredible, I mean, to create something in such a short space of time is really, it's really incredible, you know, it really is. Vinfast is a miracle for Vietnam." [custom_adv] However, AA president Edmund King said the brand's timing wasn't great.
