[custom_adv] Speaking ahead of this week's Monaco GP, McLaren F1 CEO Zak Brown said there was no pressure to put Latifi in the car as a result of his dad's investment. [custom_adv] McLaren currently fields Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne in F1, with F2 championship leader Lando Norris its official reserve driver. [custom_adv] McLaren, announcing Latifi’s involvement on Monday, said the 203.8 million pound capital injection “significantly strengthens the group’s balance sheet and underpins its ambitious growth plans”. [custom_adv] The McLaren Group includes the McLaren Automotive sportscar business, McLaren Racing and McLaren Applied Technologies companies. [custom_adv] The shareholding, through Latifi’s British Virgin Islands-based company Nidala Ltd, was seen as a purely commercial deal and the team said it was unrelated to the 22-year-old Latifi’s racing career. [custom_adv] Latifi senior, who runs Canada’s Sofina Foods Inc., said in a statement he had been an admirer of the McLaren brand and businesses for some time.
