Participants were 83.7 ± 6.9 years old, and 60.9% of participants were female. A total of 73.9% had completed secondary education, 78.3% were widowed and 92.3% were able to care for themselves (self-care ability) (Table 1). In total, the interview analysis revealed five key stages of psychosocial reaction to relocation to a nursing home: fear, struggle, compromise, acceptance and contribution.
